NORMAN RODDY 1922 - 2007 Lovingly surrounded by his family, Norman left us peacefully on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at Concordia Hospital at the age of 85 years. Norman was born in Winnipeg on May 26, 1922. He will be deeply missed by his wife June of 55 years, his son, Greg (Pumulo) and daughter, Cindy (David); granddaughters, Kristin and Kelsey and grandsons, Chisulo and Kachinga. He leaves to mourn sisters, Sara, Lillian and Margaret as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father (Thomas), his mother (Agnes) and brothers John and Bob. If you met Norman, you knew that he was a very special, kind, humorous, generous and caring man. He would have given you everything he had to make you happy. Norman joined the Navy and served in the Second World War. He met June and they were married on June 21, 1952. They raised their two children Greg and Cindy in Winnipeg. Norman was employed at Burns Foods, and served for 43 years before retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Brooklands Weston Legion, Branch # 2 for 56 years. Norman received his 50 year membership medal. He was also a member of the Branch Old Timers Association. He was a life member of the U.F.C.W. The family would like to thank Dr. J. G. Sutherland for his compassionate care of Norman. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dad's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 22, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway. Interment at Brookside Cemetery. Dad, little did we know that when you kept saying When am I going home? , that it meant that you were going home to Heaven. See you later, Papa.
